NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 Announced – The New Weapon of Choice For Gamers
NVIDIA, today announces their latest GeForce GTX 760 graphics card equipped with the latest version of the Kepler architecture that aims to improve performance at a cost effective price range. NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 760 is the new weapon of choice for gamers.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 – New Weapon of Choice For Gamers
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 makes use of a reference PCB design that we have already seen on the GeForce GTX 670 and GTX 660 Ti graphic cards.
The reference PCB makes use of a 4 + 2 phase VRM but most of the cards
we are looking at launch are factory clocked non-reference variants
which offer more performance at an added cost.
The specifications on the latest GK104-225-A2 core that’s fused on the GeForce GTX 760 card include 1152 cuda cores, 96 texture mapping units and 32 raster operators. The card would be available in both 2 and 4 GB VRAM buffers with a GDDR5 memory that would operate along a 256-bit interface. The 28nm Kepler core still features 3.5 Billion transistors
while core clock is maintained at the reference speeds of 980 MHz base
and 1033 MHz boost while memory is clocked at the reference speed of
6008 MHz or 6 GHz effective clock speed.
The card is powered by dual 6-Pin connectors which represent a TDP of 170W. We are looking at the same configurations as the GeForce GTX 670 and GTX 660 Ti graphic cards. Display outputs include Dual Link DVI, HDMI and a display port. Two SLI goldfingers allow for upto 3-Way SLI for the GeForce GTX 760 GPU.
For cooling, the card again uses the same cooler that was used on the
older variants with the plastic shroud. Although the image on the slide
makes it look alot cooler but the actual card is not that impressive as
the NVTTM cooler used on GTX 770, GTX 780 and GTX Titan. NVIDIA could
have atleast opted for a newer heatsink design but we can see why they
went for the same cooler due to cost effectiveness of the mid-range
card. The cooler uses a heatsink block that is cooled off by a blower
fan and hot air is vented out through the front bracket.
The GeForce GTX 770 would officially retail at $249-$299 while 4 GB/
Custom Cooled/ Non-Reference PCB variants would be delivered at an extra
price range.
