GIGABYTE ships record number of motherboards
The PC is on the way out? Not according to GIGABYTE's sales figures.
While many look at the PC market and say it is in decline,
motherboard-maker GIGABYTE is on track to ship a record amount of
motherboards for 2013.
Taiwanese site DigitTimes has reported (which has in turn been quoted by Maximum PC, and in turn hyped by GIGABYTE itself,
which where we heard of it) that the company has shipped 4.8 million
mobos in the second quarter of this year, making its half year total 9.9
million units. Forward estimates for the rest of the year are in excess
of another ten million units.
"Obviously this is excellent news," GIGABYTE posted on its Tech Daily blog,
"proving not only that we’re doing a decent job of fighting our corner
in a highly competitive market segment, but that the PC market as a
whole is humming along nicely."
20 million motherboards would be GIGABYTE's highest annual sales total.
Decline? Doesn't seem like one from a system builder's point of view...
