Update Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to Android 4.2.2 XXDMG6 Official Update

Samsung has started updating its devices with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and with time more and more devices are getting this update officially. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.9 GT-P3100 3G variant from France has also just got the official update of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean P3100XXDMG6, bringing many new features in the tablet.

You can update your Tab 2 7.0 via OTA or through Samsung KIES. But in case you have got a rooted device and want to go the manual way, here is the guide flashing the recent official update using Odin.

Some prerequisites to update Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to Android 4.2.2 XXDMG6 official:

Download and install USB drivers for Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 in your computer.
Enable USB debugging option by pressing Menu > Settings > Applications. Navigate and tap on Developer Options to ensure that USB Debugging is enabled.
Ensure that your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 carries more than 70% of charge.

How to update Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to Android 4.2.2 XXDMG6 official firmware:

Required files: download P3100XXDMG6 firmware file for Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (3G only) from here. Also download the Odin3 v3.04 for installation from here.

Extract both the files in a folder on your PC, and install Odin on your computer.
Switch your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 off and boot it in Download mode: press and hold Volume Down, Power and Home buttons together. When connected successfully, you will get a message in Odin saying “Added!!”. (In case you don’t get it, try another USB port. If that doesn’t help either, then re-install USB drivers).
In Odin make sure that the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time check boxes are the only options checked and nothing else is.
Click on PDA on Odin, locate the P3100XXDMG6_P3100OXADMG6_XEF_HOME.tar.md5 update zip file and hit the Start button.
When installation is successfully completed, on Odin ID:COM will turn green.
On successful installation, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100 will restart automatically and you can disconnect your device from PC.

Note: In case your device gets stuck at boot screen after installation of official firmware, perform data wiping task. Turn off Tab 2 and reboot it into recovery mode. In recovery, select the wipe data/factory reset. Go back and reboot your Tab.
