AMD Kaveri A10-7850K Overclocked To 4.5 GHz and Benchmarked Against A10-5800K
An overclocked performance preview of AMD’s upcoming A10-7850K Kaveri APU has been posted by Noticias3D Forum. The in-development performance preview pits the A10-7850K against the A10-5800K in both stock and overclocked frequencies.
AMD Kaveri A10-7850K Benchmarked At 4.5 GHz Clock Speed
The A10-7850K sample received by Noticias3D is the final retail version and comes with a price tag of $172.99 US. The A10-7850K as expected would remain the flagship Kaveri APU of 2014 boasting 4 Steamroller cores, 4 MB L2 Cache and clock speeds of 3.7 GHz base and 4.0 GHz turbo. On the graphics side, the APU would feature 8 Compute Units resulting in 512 stream processors clocked at 654 MHz base and 720 MHz in boost. The APU is fully unlocked allowing users to overclock the chip past the limits and supports DDR3-2133 MHz and comes in a 95W TDP package.AMD officially announced their 2014 A-Series lineup yesterday. For the lineup, AMD would launch only two APUs to kickoff 2014 which include the A10-7850K and A10-7700K while the A8-7600 would launch later in Q1 2014.

Overclocked Specs:
A10-5800K @ 4450Mhz / DDR3 @ 2544Mhz / NB @ 1900Mhz / IGP @ 1151Mhz.A10-7850K @ 4556Mhz / DDR3 @ 2544Mhz / NB @ 1900Mhz / IGP @ Stock.
Both APUs were tested in several benchmarks which mostly include CPU and Gaming tests. Since the preview is in-development stage, the user has also mentioned to post HSA, Dual Graphics, IGP performance tests before reviews go live on 14th January 2014. The benchmarks show decent performance numbers from the A10-7850K in several games when using a discrete graphics card such as the Radeon HD 7950 by eliminating some of the bottle neck faced on A10-5800K when using such high-end graphics cards. The CineBench R11.5 multi-threaded score is greater than its predecessor but not by a vast margin and shows that AMD still lacks alot in the x86 sector against Intel’s Ivy Bridge and Haswell CPUs. Only at overclocked frequencies does the A10-7850K matches the FX-6300 which is a 6-Core Piledriver based CPU.
We have yet to see how memory timings and frequencies affect the
integrated Radeon R7 graphics performance. Some HSA benchmarks will be
nice to see prior to launch plus some dual graphics numbers to get an
idea what graphics cards support this feature with Kaveri APUs.
