Downgrade iOS 7 To iOS 6 With This Easy Method

If you did go through with iOS 7 beta 1 IPSW download and ended up not liking it, there is a method with which you can downgrade iOS 7 to iOS 6. Its actually pretty easy. Apple mentions in the developers portal that iOS 7 is a pre-release beta of the software, that’s correct, it also says that those who install it will not be able to downgrade to earlier versions of iOS. However, we have found a working method that will allow you to downgrade iOS 7 to iOS 6. So lets jump right in.

In the early days, I’m talking about pre-iOS 6 days, it was very easy to downgrade from beta firmware to stock iOS firmware. SHSH blobs could be used for that purpose, but they don’t work with any device that runs A5 or higher processor. Which is one of the reason why you can only downgrade iOS 7 to iOS 6.1.4 for other compatible devices and only iOS 6.1.3 for iPhone 4S. This downgrade procedure isn’t exactly as simple as restoring through iTunes. There’s a few clever tricks which need to be applied in order to downgrade iOS 7 to iOS 6.

How To Downgrade iOS 7 To iOS 6:

Step 1: You’ll need iOS 6.1.4 IPSW or iOS 6.1.3 IPSW depending upon your device.

Step 2: Fire up iTunes on your Windows or Mac computer.

Step 3: You’ll now need to put your device in DFU mode. You can do that by following these steps:

  • Press and hold both the Home button and Power button on top for 10 seconds
  • After 10 seconds release the Power button but keep holding the Home button until iTunes tells you that your iOS device has been detected in recovery mode
Step 4: Click OK on the notification that a device has been detected in recovery mode. Select your device in iTunes then press and hold Shift key in Windows or Alt/Option key in Mac and click on Restore iPhone button.

Step 5: Select the corresponding IPSW file for your device that you downloaded in step 1. Click on the Restore button, then sit back and relax for approximately 10 minutes.
From here on out, everything happens automatically. iTunes will downgrade iOS 7 to iOS 6 on your device, on its own. Once its done, your device will restart and iTunes will prompt you that a restore has been successful. You shouldn’t face any problems with this method, however if you do, leave a comment down below and we will immediately help you out.
